Our Family Story

Polyclinic Maletić began in 1998 in Daruvar, Croatia, as the practice of two physicians. Today their daughter leads it, in the same institution and by the same rules.

"Back when I was still in kindergarten, my parents worked at the hospital. And every time my dad was on call, I would ask my mom to take me there so I could see what he was doing. Everything was behind glass, and through that glass I watched my dad — gowned, cap, mask — working on something. And to me, that was fantastic."

The clinic was born in the center of Daruvar, on King Tomislav Square. It was founded by mr. sc. Duško Maletić, dr. med., a specialist in surgery and urology, and his wife, dr. Ines Maletić, a specialist in anesthesiology, reanimatology, and intensive care.

It started as a two-physician practice, with an idea that has not changed since: an examination before any procedure, an assessment tailored to the individual patient, and surgery only when it is indicated. The institution grew slowly, following what its patients needed. In 2008, the first laser varicose vein surgery in Croatia was performed at the Daruvar clinic, and in the same year it was among the first in Croatia to introduce laser lipolysis. There was no Zagreb clinic yet, so all of that happened in the practice on the Daruvar square.

The road to the profession

From washing instruments to the operating room

She entered the clinic long before she became a physician. As a high school student she would come after class to watch the work, and her first jobs were washing instruments and other simple tasks. Only after enrolling at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine did she move closer to the serious work.

After graduation came the waiting. Under the system of the time, the road to plastic surgery led through four years of general surgery and an additional subspecialization, while a new plan allowing direct specialization was being announced. She decided to wait for that plan and, in the meantime, to visit clinics specialized in aesthetic procedures in other countries. In one of them she saw a hair transplant up close for the first time, the field she works in to this day.

The new plan came. She was the first in Croatia to receive a direct specialization in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery — and for her family's own clinic — and she completed it at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery of Dubrava University Hospital.

Who we are

Knowledge few are willing to share

In aesthetic surgery, knowledge is hard to gather. Over the years, every surgeon develops their own techniques and small adjustments that make the difference in the outcome, and rarely shares them outside their own operating room. She received that knowledge at home, without reservation.

"I had the privilege of learning from my own parents, who unselfishly passed on to me their rich knowledge and all the secrets of this work. It is a great advantage to work with family, because the advice and the criticism are honest and well-meant — and that is priceless." — dr. sc. Ana Maletić, dr. med.

When several procedures are performed on the same patient at once, the physicians work together, and a second physician's opinion is available immediately, in the same operating room.

In 2016 the Zagreb clinic opened, and since 2017 Ana has led the institution.

Today

What has not changed

Today the clinic works at two locations, in new premises since 2026, with four operating rooms and recovery rooms. There are more patients and more staff than before, and the space is larger.

The way of working has not changed. We approach every patient the same way, no matter how large the procedure, and we explain to everyone the limits of what a procedure can achieve. Because of that, some people leave without a recommendation for surgery — and receive instead what makes sense in their case, from monitoring the findings to a simpler treatment.

Some of our patients have been coming to us for more than twenty years, and today their children come with them.
