Face & Neck Treatments in Zagreb and Daruvar
Face and neck treatments act on different causes of change: muscle activity, lost volume, the quality of the skin or its surface. The examination determines which level is affected and which method matches your findings.
Botox, dermal fillers, biostimulators, laser treatments and chemical peels act on different anatomical causes. The examination assesses muscle activity, loss of volume, skin quality and any excess skin. On that basis, we determine the appropriate treatment, a combination of methods, or the need for a surgical approach.
Is this for me?
Reasons to come in for an exam
The reasons usually come down to four groups, which often overlap.
- Expression lines. Lines of the forehead, glabella and the area around the eyes that appear or deepen with muscle movement.
- Skin quality and texture. Thin or dry skin, uneven tone, enlarged pores, fine lines and changes in texture.
- Scars and pronounced surface changes. Acne scars, changes caused by long-term sun exposure and deep lines in the skin.
- Loss of volume and changed contours. Reduced fullness of the midface, a less defined chin or jawline, and a change in lip volume.
All four groups are a valid reason to come in for an exam — but none of them, on its own, means a treatment is needed.
Honesty first
Four causes we separate at the exam
The treatments on this page act on four different levels. The examination determines which of them is the main cause of the change, and the treatment plan is shaped accordingly.
Muscle. Lines that appear or deepen when you frown, smile or raise your eyebrows are linked to muscle activity. Botox acts on those, while volume and skin-quality treatments do not reduce the work of the muscle itself.
Volume. Loss of fullness in the cheekbones and midface can create shadows and weaken the contours. A dermal filler can restore the lost volume, while biostimulators and lasers are not designed for volumization.
Skin quality. Thin, dry or less elastic skin, fine lines and uneven texture can be treated with biostimulators, laser rejuvenation or a chemical peel. The choice depends on the type and depth of the change.
Excess skin. More pronounced sagging along the jawline or on the neck cannot be removed by treatments that act on muscle, volume or the surface of the skin. With such findings, we consider procedures from the field of face and neck surgery.
Treatments differ not just in intensity but above all in the structure they act on. That is why the method is chosen only after the cause of the change has been assessed.
Two causes can be present at the same time — for example, changed skin quality and descended tissue. Then the order of methods matters, because a treatment of the skin surface cannot substitute for a procedure that acts on the position and contour of the face.
In some patients, the examination ends with the conclusion that a treatment is not currently indicated, or that follow-up is enough.
A polyclinic since 1998
The Polyclinic has operated for more than 27 years, and two generations of the family work here today.
Two generations of physicians
The Polyclinic was founded by a surgeon and an anesthesiologist, and is led today by their daughter, a specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
Assessment of the indication
An examination can end with a recommendation for a treatment, for follow-up — or with the conclusion that no procedure is needed at this time.
Lasers, aesthetic medicine and surgery
The range of methods allows the treatment to be chosen according to the cause of the change, the depth of the affected tissue and the expected result.
Treatments performed by a physician
Treatments are performed in a medical institution, on the Polyclinic’s premises in Zagreb and Daruvar with a total floor area of more than 1,000 m².
Injectable treatments by Mario Bartol
Mario Bartol, MD, is a specialist in surgery and a member of the Polyclinic’s professional team since 2008.
Education center since 2008
Physicians from other countries come to the Polyclinic for training in performing laser procedures.
Continuity of care
The examination, the treatment and the follow-ups are led by the same medical team.

Examinations, treatments and follow-ups are available at both locations, with the same professional team.
Six treatments, six different jobs
Comparing face and neck treatments
| Treatment | What it acts on | What it addresses | Protocol or duration of effect | When it is not the right choice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dermal fillers | volume | a deflated midface, a lost chin and jawline contour, the shape of the lips | usually 6 to 12 months, longer in some areas | when the problem is skin quality, expression lines or pronounced excess skin |
| Botox | muscle | lines created by frowning, smiling and raising the eyebrows, in the upper third of the face | usually 3 to 5 months | when the lines do not exist even in motion, when the line is already etched in and visible at rest, and with a drooping eyebrow |
| Profhilo | skin quality, without volume | skin that has lost firmness and glow, when you do not want to change your features | two treatments four weeks apart; the protocol is repeated | when the skin is markedly lax, when volume is missing, or when the goal is a visible change of facial contour |
| Sunekos | skin quality, without volume | thin and dry skin, fine lines, and the area around the eyes, the neck and the décolletage | usually 3 to 4 treatments 7 to 14 days apart; repeated | when the problem is lost volume or skin laxity |
| Laser skin rejuvenation | the surface and texture of the skin | acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, sun spots | one treatment is rarely enough; the number and spacing are set at the exam | when the main problem is laxity, when the scars are too deep, with active acne, and when you cannot set aside a few days for recovery |
| Exoderm chemical peel | the surface and deeper layers of the skin | deep vertical lines above the upper lip, pronounced acne scars, skin permanently damaged by the sun | a single procedure, as a rule not repeated | when the changes are milder and a gentler peel is enough, when excess skin is the concern, with certain heart and kidney conditions, and with very dark skin types |

Treatments differ in the structure they act on, the depth of the procedure and the expected result. The choice is therefore based on the findings — not on the assumption that a more intensive procedure is necessarily more appropriate.
Depending on the findings, the plan may include a single treatment or a combination of two methods. Details on the course, recovery, risks and price are available on each treatment’s page.
The people behind it
The physicians who perform the treatments
Injectable treatments — including fillers, Botox, Profhilo and Sunekos — are performed by Mario Bartol, MD, specialist in surgery, permanent court expert and member of the Polyclinic’s professional team since 2008. He also performs laser procedures, and in 2008 he performed the first laser vein surgery in Croatia.
Laser treatments are performed by the physicians of the Laser Center. The Polyclinic has worked with lasers since 2008 and serves as an education center for laser procedures, where physicians from other countries train. Among the Laser Center’s physicians is Ines Maletić, MD, co-founder of the Polyclinic and specialist in anesthesiology, reanimatology and intensive care, who has worked with lasers since the Center was founded and is an Expert Clinical Lecturer at the Laser & Health Academy.
The Exoderm chemical peel is performed by Duško Maletić, MD, MSc, specialist in surgery and urology and co-founder of the Polyclinic, and Mario Bartol, MD. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation, with an anesthesiologist from the Polyclinic’s permanent team.
The Polyclinic is a family institution led today by the second generation of physicians. Through the examination, the treatment and the follow-ups, the same team of nurses looks after you.

The treatments we perform
Details on each treatment — including the course, recovery, risks and price — are on its page.
Dermal Fillers
Restoring lost volume and shaping the contours of the middle and lower thirds of the face and the lips.
Botox
Temporarily reducing the activity of the muscles that create expression lines of the forehead, glabella and the area at the outer corners of the eyes.
Profhilo
A biostimulator aimed at hydration, firmness and the quality of the skin, without creating volume.
Sunekos
A biostimulator for thin, dry and less elastic skin, including the area around the eyes, the neck and the décolletage.
Laser Skin Rejuvenation
A fractional laser treatment used for changes in skin texture, enlarged pores and acne scars, with a few days of recovery.
Exoderm Chemical Peel
A deep chemical peel for pronounced lines above the upper lip and acne scars, with a seven-day stay in the Polyclinic’s apartment in Daruvar.
Dermal fillers restore lost volume and shape the contours of the face. We use hyaluronic fillers, which can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed, and the price is calculated according to the amount applied in milliliters.
Botox reduces the activity of the muscles that create expression lines in the upper third of the face. The dose is set according to the strength of the muscle and the planned effect, and the price is calculated according to the number of units applied.
Profhilo works on the quality and elasticity of the skin without adding volume. The standard protocol includes two treatments a month apart, and the prices of a single treatment and of the protocol are listed in the price list.
Sunekos is a biostimulator for thin, dry and less elastic skin, also used around the eyes, on the neck and on the décolletage. The number of treatments is set according to the condition of the skin.
Laser skin rejuvenation uses a fractional laser to remove part of the surface layer of the skin in a controlled way and stimulate its renewal. It is used for changes in texture, enlarged pores and acne scars, and requires a few days of recovery.
The Exoderm chemical peel is the deepest of the procedures listed here. It is performed under local anesthesia with sedation, with a seven-day stay in the Polyclinic’s apartment in Daruvar. It is used for deep skin changes when a gentler peel or a laser procedure cannot achieve the appropriate effect.
The appropriate treatment is determined at the examination, according to the cause of the change, the condition of the skin and the expected result.
What changes
What most often changes
The results of a treatment are assessed by the change in muscle activity, volume, texture and skin quality, depending on the chosen method.
- softening of expression lines after botulinum toxin takes effect
- restored volume and a clearer contour after fillers are applied
- improved hydration, firmness or elasticity of the skin after biostimulation treatments
- a more even texture and less visible scars after a laser treatment or peel
- preserved natural features when the method and amount are matched to the findings
The extent of the change differs depending on the initial findings, the chosen method, the amount applied and how your skin responds.
